Sheriff William "Bill" Rios
Sheriff William (Bill) Rios began his law enforcement career in 1983 with the Houston Police Department at just 21 years old. Over the course of his 36-year career with the Houston Police Department, he worked primarily in enforcement, spending nearly three decades in the Narcotics Division as both a case agent and a Sergeant supervising multiple squads.
In 2004, he was selected to serve in the Pro-Active Internal Affairs Division, an elite unit that reported directly to the Chief of Police and investigated allegations of officer misconduct. His commitment to integrity and accountability has been a guiding principle throughout his career.
After retiring from HPD in 2019, Sheriff Bill Rios and his wife, Irma, settled in Burleson County. In 2022, he returned to law enforcement - first as a Reserve Deputy, then as the Resource Deputy for Somerville ISD, protecting what he calls "our most precious resource - our children."
Today, as Sheriff of Burleson County, he remains committed to public safety, community trust, and the values of integrity and service. Law enforcement is a family tradition for Sheriff Bill Rios; his son is a Sergeant with HPD, and his daughter is a Deputy with Harris County.
Sheriff Bill Rios is proud to serve the citizens of Burleson County and is dedicated to building a safer, stronger community for everyone.
