Burleson County Sheriff's Office - Community Relations Division
The of the Burleson County Sheriff's Office is dedicated to building trust, fostering partnerships, and enhancing public safety through proactive engagement with the residents, businesses, schools, and organizations of Burleson County.
Our Mission: To bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community by promoting open communication, mutual respect, and collaborative problem-solving-creating a safer, more connected Burleson County for all.
The Burleson County Sheriff's Office Ride-Along Program
allows approved members of the public to accompany a uniformed deputy during a regular patrol shift for educational and observational purposes. The program is designed to increase community understanding of law enforcement operations in rural Texas, promote transparency, and strengthen relationships between residents and deputies.
Eligibility
Must be at least 18 years of age (or 16 with written parental consent and accompanied by a parent/guardian)
Valid government-issued photo ID required
No pending criminal charges or active warrants
No felony convictions
Must pass a basic criminal history background check conducted by BCSO
Program Details
Ride-along's are typically 4-8 hours in length (usually 6:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. shifts)
Participants ride in the front passenger seat of a marked patrol unit
Participants are considered observers only and may not exit the vehicle or participate in enforcement activities unless directed by the deputy for safety reasons
Dress code: Collared shirt, long pants (no shorts), closed-toe shoes. No clothing with offensive language or resembling law enforcement uniforms
Cell phones and recording devices are permitted for personal use but may be restricted during sensitive calls
Application Process
Complete the official Ride-Along Request & Waiver form (Application Form link Below)
Submit the form in person or by email
Once approved, the Patrol Sergeant will contact you to schedule the ride-along
Arrive 15 minutes early for a short safety briefing
Safety & Liability
Participants must sign a liability waiver and hold-harmless agreement
The deputy has full discretion to end the ride-along at any time
In the event of a high-risk call, the deputy may drop the rider at a safe location or return to the station
